Royal Cayman Island Police Service/Domestic Violence Unit.

The Unit is quite unique within itself and works very closely with the Department of Children and family service, Deputy Public ProsecutorOffice. Domestic Violence on a whole covers a vast amount of diverse offenses which also includes offenses against children within the home.

 

The Unit as in its current setting consists of one (1) Detective Sergeant and two (2) Detective Constables. The Unit core responsibilities are to review and to assess all Domestic Violence reviews on all three (3) Islands and to investigate incidents that are rated within the medium to high spectrum. This also including incident against serving Police Officers. The Domestic Violence Module on RMS was created for this purpose after an intense review and plan were put in place and the recommendation was made for such a template to be placed on RMS.

The Unit conducted daily morning reviews except for the weekend, which is completed on Monday mornings. The reviews are completed based upon the two elements shown below (1) Power and Control Wheel and (2) Risk Factor:
