Cayman Islands Crisis Centre

The Cayman Islands Crisis Center (CICC) provides programmes and services focusing on domestic and sexual abuse through the provision of safe temporary shelter for women and their children, community education and assistance to all victims of abuse.

The specific services offered towards the intervention and prevention of domestic violence are:

24 hour Crisis Line 943-CICC (2422):

The crisis Line serves as the primary contact for persons seeking crisis counselling and guidance as well as access to safe shelter. This number is available to all persons in the community including, men, women and children.

24/7 Emergency Shelter:

Women and their children experiencing domestic and sexual violence can access CICC’s safe shelter programme through the 24 hour Crisis Line and may live at the home for up to 60 days.  This is a safe place for them to heal and is provided with various services; adult case management, risk assessments, safety planning, Individual and group counselling, parenting education, support groups, resource referrals and advocacy, children and Youth Programme.

Children and Youth Programme (CAYP):

CAYP provide intervention and prevention services for children who accompany their mothers to the Shelter programme as a result of domestic abuse or sexual assault. The CAYP is intended to enhance safety and self-esteem skills, maintain academic performance, increase knowledge of child abuse prevention for mothers and increases public education on the effects of domestic violence on children.

Aftercare Programme:

The Aftercare programme provides follow up care to women and children after they exited the safe shelter programme and are starting their lives free from domestic violence.  The Aftercare programme aids with identifying and reducing risk factors surrounding violence and poverty and provides the following, free of charge, Crisis counseling, monthly educational support groups, referral services for counseling, secure housing and employment and parenting skills.

Estella’s place:

Estella’s Place is CICC Walk-in Centre (named after Estella Scott Roberts, founder and first Executive Director of CICC) where all victims of domestic violence (women, men and children) and who does not need safe sheltering can access support and services.  Families or individuals can gain access to our programmes and services including case management, individual or group counselling, support group sessions, resource referral and advocacy and parenting education.

Teens and Young Adult Lounge (TAYA):

TAYA Lounge is a trauma informed after-school programme for at risk youths age 14 – 21 years operated from Estella’s Place Walk-in Centre. TAYA provides a safe environment where they can interact and make social and emotional connections with their peers. The staff provide a supportive and stable environment and provide the teens life training skills, recreational activities, and therapy sessions to address issues such as child maltreatment, domestic violence, sexual abuse, dating violence and healthy relationships, childhood trauma, conflict resolution and anger management, etc. The TAYA lounge is open on Tuesday to Friday from 3pm to 8pm.

 Kids Helpline 649-KIDS (5437):

This is a free to call helpline for children up to the age of 18. The Kids Helpline is a private which will safeguard and protect the rights of a child. We provide support to callers until they are in a safe situation. Children and young adults can call the helpline for any issues they would like to discuss, including but not limited to bullying, relationships, family, suicide and problems at school. This service is available across all three Islands Monday to Friday 10:am to 6:pm.
